After breakfast, the participants will walk to Kharpocho Fort in Skardu, which is located up on a mountain. The Kharpocho fort gives a splendid view of the Indus and Skardu towns.
During sightseeing, our staff will take care of further government documentation required in Skardu. This can sometimes take two days. We have contingency days towards the end of the trek in case of any delays.
Prepare to be astounded as you travel from Gilgit to the breathtaking Naltar valley, a region of incomparable beauty. Spend the night camping under the starry skies.
Enjoy a picturesque drive up to the mesmerising Naltar Lake, which takes around 3 to 4 hours. Set up camp by the lake and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
The Shing can see the Daintar Pass. You will drive to the high camp from Naltar Lake, and camping at Lower Shani (3690m) is recommended for acclimatisation. Spend another day here to acclimatize and see the beautiful upper Naltar Valley.
Lower Shani lies to the north of Daintar Pass. The route directs the stream that flows down the ridge to the east (right). The Daintar High Camp (4100m) is situated below a clean snowfield on level terrain.
The ascent to the pass begins after summiting an offshoot of the main ridge. A rope may be required because the angle is somewhat steep towards the top. It appears that this is Class 2. The upper cornice may be huge. A cairn marks Daintar Pass (4500 metres). The approach to the spectacular Snow Dome (5029 m) is along the ridge that runs east-southeast from the pass. The traditional descent from the pass is a dangerous scree gully. The glacier below contains crevasses and rockfall dangers. Descend 3 to 3 and a half hours from the pass to the Tolebari huts and pastures (3450m).
Spend two hours descending the Tolebari Nala to the herders' homes at Taling and Daintar (2743 metres). It will take two to three hours to reach Torbuto Das (2100m), at the intersection of the Daintar Nala and Bar Nala, by continuing down the Daintar Nala through a gorge. Follow a steep path northeast across the Talamutz Pass to the Bar hamlet halfway down the valley (see Baltar and Toltar Glaciers in Other Treks). A rough trail crosses the river from the Daintar huts and leads southeast across the mountain (3657m) to Chalt on the western side of the Chaprot Nala. The Chalt Tourist Inn offers superb camping and lodging options.
On this day, travel from Tarbetar Das to the Karakoram Highway (KKH) and then to the picturesque village of Hunza, which takes approximately 3 hours. Immerse yourself in the local traditions and hospitality.
Take a well-deserved rest day in Hunza, and if you're looking for more excitement, head to Doikar for an overnight stay surrounded by nature's splendour.
Start your day early and witness the stunning sunrise from Duikar. Then return to Karimabad to see local sites and learn about the area's rich history.
Prepare for an exciting day as you visit the famed Khunjarab Pass, one of the world's highest border crossings. After a day of exploring, return to the quaint village of Gulmit.
Say goodbye to Gulmit and make your way back to Gilgit. Check into your accommodation and enjoy the amenities of civilization after a day of adventure.
