Travel from Islamabad to the breathtaking Chitral Valley via the Swat Motorway. After a quick pause at the Swat Motorway Rest Area, continue driving along the N-45 highway, taking in the natural beauty of the surrounding environment. You will pass through the magnificent Lowari Tunnel on your way to Chitral. Finally, if arrive in Chitral Valley, you may immerse yourself in its rich cultural legacy and breathtaking scenery. The estimated travel time from Islamabad to Chitral is around 9 to 10 hours. Explore Chitral's attractions, including the Shahi Mosque, Shahi Qila, the Polo Ground, Governor Cottage, and the Chitral Museum.

Begin your tour at Chitral and travel north to Madaglasht, located in the far north of the Shishikoh Valley. Madaglasht hamlet is around 40 kilometers from Chitral city, and the travel takes about an hour depending on traffic and road conditions. As you travel to Madaglasht, you will pass through breathtaking landscapes and picturesque views of the surrounding valleys and mountains, providing a sense of the region's natural grandeur.

To the northeast, follow Shishi Gol's true right (north) bank. Deozari is two to three hours (10km) away, via fields and grasslands. After 500 metres, another trail forks east up the Andowir Glacier's outwash stream. Some maps show a route connecting the glacier's snout to Dir's upper Panjkora Valley, close south of Thalo An. The route, on the other hand, is over-crevassed glaciers and hence neither feasible nor attractive for hikers. From here, the trail to the Lohigal An continues through the trees for another hour, or 1.5 kilometres, to Ruagol Ghari. Follow the trail up, steeply at places, for one to two hours to the huts on Ghuchharsar Ghari (3505m) from Gujar settlement. There are a few suitable camping areas nearby.

Follow the true right (north) bank of the stream. After an hour, the route to Dok An forks north and climbs quickly to the pass. The trek continues one hour northeast to Lohigal An (4361m), which offers a good view of Ghuchhar Sar (6249m). In Khowar, Ghuchhar means 'waterfall' and Sar means 'head'. Descend around 6.5 kilometres (two to three hours) via the upper Lohigal Gol to the Krui Uts huts (red spring, 3581m).

Follow the Lohigal Gol's true left (west) bank for a short while before crossing to the other bank. Continue down the valley via different summer settlements until you reach the confluence of the Lohigal Gol and Golen Gol at Chhatar Ghuni (3000 metres). Camp at one of the valley's springs or meadows.

From Golen Gol, descend to Istor (2700 meters). Istor (2700m), Golen Gol’s highest village, means ‘horse’ in Khowar. Across the river from Istor is a spring and a grassy, shaded camp site. The trail up Golen Gol narrows and continues 5km to Romen, a level place with huts, fields and clear springs. Another 2. 5km on is a broad, grassy plain with clear streams, a few huts and some fields.

Drive from Istor, the highest settlement in Golen Gol at 2700 meters, to Chitral. The road is renowned for its stunning splendor and attractive surroundings. Travel duration varies depending on road conditions and traffic, but the travel usually takes 2 to 3 hours.

Chitral, a town set in the stunning scenery of the Hindu Kush mountains, is a treasure trove of natural beauty and cultural legacy. As you explore this fascinating location, you'll come across the Shahi Mosque, a monument to the area's Mughal past, and the historic Shahi Qila, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding environment. For a taste of local customs, head to the Polo Ground, where spectacular polo bouts are popular. Nearby, the Governor Cottage-turned-museum provides insight into the region's colonial history. Not far from there, the Chitral Museum goes further into local culture, history, and lifestyle, making it an ideal destination for history buffs. As you travel through Chitral, you'll notice that each corner exposes a new narrative, a different aspect of this hidden jewel set in the mountains.

The travel from Chitral to Islamabad usually takes 9 to 10 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. The journey is picturesque, traversing through high terrain and providing stunning vistas along the way. Make sure to stop in any of the attractive villages and towns along the way, such as Dir and Swat, to enjoy the region's natural splendor. Once in Islamabad, you may visit the city's various attractions, such as the Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh, and Lok Virsa Museum.

We also have a contingency day in your travel arrangements in the event of unanticipated delays. This entails setting aside an additional day for your vacation so that you may change your itinerary if necessary. This might be due to inclement weather, road closures, or unforeseen occurrences during your route. This extra day helps address such circumstances without significantly disrupting your travel plans, resulting in a smoother and more pleasurable vacation overall.
